About Us

Hope for the City is a Minnesota-based, non-profit organization with a mission to improve lives by distributing corporate surplus to organizations who serve those in need next door and around the world. We partner with organizations to fight poverty, hunger, and disease in Minnesota and around the world.

Making an Impact Locally…
In 2010, Hope for the City collected and distributed 4,241,604 pounds of food and collected corporate surplus and donations from 83 companies.  This summer we distributed 4,500 lunch boxes, each containing enough healthy meal fixings to provide two kids lunch for two weeks.

...and Globally
In 2010, our International Program distributed goods to six countries.  We shipped fifteen 20 and 40 - ft. long containers of medical equipment and supplies, educational materials, and other basic need items to hospitals, clinics, orphanages and schools in developing nations.

Every $1 donated to Hope for the City will leverage more than $33 worth of important food and non-food resources to those in need.

Our donors are our strength― without them our important work could not get done.

  • Individual, corporate, and foundation charitable contributions
  • Donors of Corporate Surplus
  • Hundreds of volunteers who have donated thousands of hours at our warehouse and events
