How do your gifts help? An essential element of Hope for the City is the support we receive through philanthropic giving. With the help of our donors, we are able to provide much needed and often life-saving goods to those who rely on us. Unfortunately, the need for food and basic supplies here and abroad has never been greater. Over the past two years, metro area food shelves have seen a 97% increase in usage. Further, political strife, poverty and disease continue to affect the quality of life for millions of people around the world. Donate Online If Hope for the City receives donated items and gives them away, why do they need charitable support?
Examples of how gifts make a profound impact locally and internationally: $20 = Provides 2 children with lunch for 2 weeks via our Lunch Box for Kids summer hunger program. Over 240,000 children throughout our local communities go hungry during the summer months when they don't have access to school lunch programs. Each lunch box contains 20 meals. Loosely translated, every dollar provides a meal for a hungry child. $350 = Provides a palate containing three newborn infant incubators to our partners in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. (22 palates per container) $2,000 = Covers the transportation costs for a semi-truck load containing 40,000 pounds of surplus food valued at over $80,000 to be brought to the Twin Cities from a General Mills plant in Tennessee. $10,000 = The approximate cost of sending a 40 ft. container filled with $250,000-$500,000 worth of life saving medical supplies and equipment to our partners in Uganda, Africa. Supporting Hope for the City makes sense: EVERY DOLLAR MAKES A DIFFERENCE: For every $1 donated, Hope for the City can leverage and distribute $33 worth of important food and non-food resources. Our innovative program model means that with every gift, you are helping to keep corporate surplus out of landfills while simultaneously ensuring that critically needed food and resources reach those in dire need. Donations are tax-deductible and provide an easy opportunity for you way to make a measurable impact locally and globally. We provide these services with a high degree of efficiency and cost-effectiveness. In 2010, Hope for the City was named the "Best Bang for the Buck" non-profit organization by the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal with over 98% of resources going directly toward programs, versus administrative costs. Last year alone, over $34 million in wholesale value of goods was distributed, bringing the 10 year total to over $480 million! Donate by Phone Donate by Mail Hope for the City |
